University of North Carolina Health Care recently introduced late night menus for both patients and staff. The selections (the two menus mostly overlap except that the staff menu includes desserts and delineates prices) run the gamut from hot entrees (meatloaf, roasted turkey, etc.), grilled items and pizza to breakfast favorites like French toast, pancakes and various omelets.
Available from 8 pm to 7 am for patients and 12 am to 4 am for staff, it is run out of the main production kitchen. Meals are delivered to patients while staff has to pick up. Stafff also has an alternate options—a range of grab-and-go selections like sandwiches and salads available at the hospital’s 24-hour Starbucks unit.
