Dining Services at Washington University in St. Louis are using an idea from the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to help celebrate the closing of the campus’s venerable Wohl Center student center. Dining Services will host an exclusive evening dining event near the end of the current semester for 20 guests, 13 of whom will be chosen Willy Wonka style—by securing a Golden Ticket to the event.
The Golden Tickets will be hidden in 13 special chocolate bars Dining Services will sell in three of its retail outlets. Like in the movie, those who secure the bars with the tickets will get entry to the special dinner (the other seven spots are reserved for faculty members to ensure a satisfactory student/faculty mix). The department is being vague about what the special event will consist of except to advise those who attend to “come hungry.”
