Washington University in St. Louis is expanding its Webfood program to a second location, reports the school’s Student Life campus newspaper. Following its successful launch in the Danforth University Center dining venue, a pilot progam will bring Webfood to a limited number of students, who will be able to order a limited number of menu items with the service at the South 40 dining center.
Webfood allows customers to preorder their food and specify a pickup time, thus avoiding long lines during peak meal periods. The initial test phase, which is expected to last only a few weeks, will start with a limited selection of mostly grilled items like burgers, which hold up better while waiting for pickup. As the kitchen gets more comfortable with the system, new items will be added to the Webfood menu. Webfood has been a success at Washington University, with more than 900 students signing up for the service so far.
