Former FSD Charged With $5 Million Theft

The former foodservice director at LaSalle University in Philadelphia has been charged with stealing $5 million from the school over a 20-year period, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. Stephen Greb, who had served as the school's FSD since 1984, was only dismissed this past summer after tighter accounting verification systems that had recently been implemented uncovered the fraud.

Greb has restituted a "substantial" amount of the money, according to a LaSalle spokesperson contacted by the Inquirer. However, he was still arrested and charged with theft and forgery. The thefts apparently were done through a fictitious vendor to which Greb regularly authorized payments. It went undiscovered until a $40,000 payment was flagged by the new accounting system earlier this year.
