Florida Districts Find Success With Meatless Options

A pair of large South Florida school districts have had success introducing vegetarian and even vegan lunch options in their cafeteria, reports the Miami Herald. Miami-Dade County Schools debuted three vegan choices this year: imitation chicken nuggets, veggie burgers and hummus platters while Broward County added veggie burgers district-wide to complement daily vegetarian and vegan salads. It also menus a hot vegan option once a week. District officials in both system say the options have been popular even with non-vegetarian students and they are both looking to add even more meatless choices in the future.
