Originally founded in 1917 to provide government facilities in Washington with foodservices, Guest Services today operates in multiple segments. It manages cafés in public institutions like the National Gallery of Art and the Holocaust Museum, operates concessions in state and national parks like Big Sur and Mt. Rainier, and provides in-house dining for government clients like the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Clients also include private businesses like Northrup Grumman, General Dynamics and Boeing, and resorts like the Doubletree Suites in Naples, FL.
In early 2013, Guest Services named Jeff Marquis president/COO, though Gerald Gabrys remains fully enggaed in directing the company as CEO.
The company has expanded its FitPicks program at its National Mall food concessions, with percentage of sales from the healthy food concept almost doubling from 10% to 18%.
Guest Services also continues to refresh its robust promotion program, swapping out two long-standing monthly promotions (Seasonal Sensations and SuperFoods) to make way for FreshFixe, which focuses on freshly procured and prepared products, and Something Special, which highlights products from specific manufacturers. Both debuted in January 2014.
