Gleaners Food Bank and Chartwells School Dining Services are partnering to provide free lunches to children in Fayette County (IN) this summer
For the first time ever, Fayette County (IN) children will receive free lunches this summer, donated by Gleaners Food Bank and Chartwells School Dining Services. The Spartan Summer Food Truck Program launched on Monday May 21st and will be available for any child in the Fayette County School system who is 18 years of age or under.
The Spartan Summer mobile pantry program will run through August 10th at eight locations. There will be a different menu daily, with both hot meals and grab-and-go lunches, featuring subs, wraps, salads, fruit, vegetables, juice and milk.
"Fayette County Schools are so happy to have created this partnership with Gleaners Food Bank to provide a valuable service to the community," says Siobhan Carey, Chartwells' director of dining services for Fayette County Schools. "We want to make sure that all children have access to food while school is out. We think they will be excited to see this bright truck bringing them lunch every day and it will also encourage them to go outside and play!"
