Vassar Bans Bottled Water in Its Cafeterias

Vassar College student government voted unanimously this past spring to ban sales of bottled water in all of the school's cafeterias

Vassar College student government voted unanimously this past spring to ban sales of bottled water in all of the school's cafeterias, reports the Hudson Valley Your News Now. To compensate, the campus will increase the number of water filling stations and all incoming freshman received re-usable steel bottles to start the year as part of the Tap That campaign. Vassar Greens, the group behind the initiative, says its next efforts will be aimed at banning water from vending machines and at off-campus events.

What is the real reason for this? Saving the environment from empty water bottles, or producing more revenue for local water suppliers?
