EIU Housing/Dining Satisfies Despite Revenue Squeeze

The Housing and Dining Department at Eastern Illinois University enjoys high ratings despite a reduction in housing and board fee revenues.

Despite a revenue decrease caused by a 23% drop in the number of students living on campus, the Housing & Dining Services Dept. at Eastern Illinois University continues to enjoy high satisfaction rates, reports the Daily Eastern News campus paper. The reduction in the resident student population, the result of decreasing enrollment over the past few years, has reduced department income from room and board fees from $31.2 million to $29.7 million between 2010 and 2012. Nevertheless, 94 percent of students last year reported an "overall enjoyment" of on-campus living and Housing/Dining has been able to complete a number of significant capital projects, including a renovation of the Stevenson Tower dining complex in 2010.
