Where Does Pop Stop and Soda Begin?

POP? SODA? TONIC? COKE? DOPE? YOU DECIDE. The Northern and Midland states say "pop" most of the Sounthern states from Texas to much of florida use the generic "coke," and "soda" seems reserved for the the northeast and Southwest, including new york and California, with a pocket in the country's middle that includes parts of Wisconsin and St. Louis. Some residents of the Smokey Mountains and part of the Carolinas use the term "dope" and parts of easter new england say "tonic."
