At the Calhoun School in New York City, students can check Chef Bobo's Blog (www.calhoun.org/boboblog) to see what he's cooking — and it makes for interesting reading! Chef Bobo, the school's executive chef and director of food services, has gained celebrity status from his efforts to make food healthy and fun at the school.
On a recent blog post, Chef Bobo explained a Greek dessert that would be on that day's menu, Galaktoboureko (pronounced ga LAK toe BOOR echo) “The delicate Filo pastry is made with dough that is rolled out so thin that you can lay it over printed material and read through it….If you were thinking about going out for lunch today, you might want to change your mind!” Bobo writes.
Chef Bobo is also known for classroom cooking demos that focus on health, nutrition and diversity. Young foodies-in-the-making can attend Bobo's cooking classes after school.
