U-Fla. Goes Kosher

Special meal plans in effect this fall.

The University of Florida has opened a new kosher dining hall, The Olam: Tastes from Around the World, at its Hillel facility and will offer special kosher meal plans this fall. Students cannot use the regular declining balance meal plan at The Olam but beginning in the fall, Gator Dining will offer Kosher 5 (five lunches/dinners a week for $720 a semester) and Kosher 10 (10 weekly meals for $1,360 a semester) meal plans.

Students can also add a kosher upgrade to any standard meal plan for $425 a semester and get another 40 meals. The regular meal plan costs $1,450 a semester for 10 meals a week, plus Flex Bucks to purchase meals at campus retail outlets. The kosher plans will not include Flex Bucks.

In addition to the new kosher dining option, UF will offer kosher grab-and-go sandwiches and salads in its campus c-stores.
