Dining Services at Texas Christian University is expanding the traditional cooking class program aimed at students by holding sessions for faculty and staff, reports the TCU Daily Skiff. Held in the Market Square dining facility, the twice-a-month sessions are led by Executive Chef Charlie Guajardo of campus dining services provider Sodexo. The classes were created after faculty and staff expressed interest in a cooking program. Previous programs had been geared toward students, not adults, thoug the sessions may eventually include students as the semester progresses.
The sessions are similar to cooking shows seen on the popular Food Network, with food preparation done behind the counter while the chef explains the process step by step. The proceedings will be shown on television screens throughout Market Square giving anyone sitting in the facility an opportunity to follow along. Recipes, either from the Sodexo file or designed by Guajardo, are distributed to attendees before each demonstration and can be taken home. The classes began September 11 and cost $12 a session.
