The mission statement of a foodservice management company printed in a high school newspaper is at the center of a free speech dispute, reports the Orange County Register. The issue arose when Evolution, the school paper of Orange County (CA) High School for the Arts, reported on the school’s new foodservice provider, Long Beach based Alegre Foods, and included references from Alegre’s website about being a “Christian based company” in the profile. Principal Sue Vaughn halted publication until the editors could justfy why they included the reference in the story. OCHSA is the largest public charter school in Orange County, near Los Angeles.
