Alan Moloney, presently the associate director of housing and dining services at UC-San Diego, will lead day-to-day operations in a newly created position that reports to Haggai Hisgilov, executive director of UC Strategic Sourcing. Moloney will supervise a staff of commodity managers, analysts and contract managers and oversee contracts for custodial supplies, office supplies, equipment, paper products, maintenance and other categories. A proposal to include foodservice contracts in this group will be submitted to UC housing and dining directors later this year.
Moloney is a founding member and past president of CURB (a college and university purchasing cooperative with 130 member schools). In accepting the new job, Moloney resigned his positions as co-chair of the CURB board of directors and chair of its Manufacturers Committee. He will relocate to the San Francisco Bay area, where the UC Office of the President is located.
