Friday Night Lights will never be the same, reports the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. This fall, football fans at the home games of Carroll (TX) Senior High School Dragons will find a new concessions choice amidst the traditional nachos, hot dogs and barbecue: sushi. Carroll may be the first Texas high school to menu the Oriental seafood dish at its football stadium. Friday night high school football is a sacred Texas tradition, as chronicled in the book and movie Friday Night Lights.

For five dollars, Carroll (and visitor) fans can choose a six-piece sampler of either Seattle (smoked salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, nori), California (crab, avocado, asparagus, nori) or Pacific (shrimp, avocado, nori) sushi. The product comes from supplier Banzai! Fresh, which ships the ready-made product frozen from Washington State. The company also supplies schools, colleges and hospitals on the West Coast and has been expanding its business in Texas.

The same sushi choices, along with two others—Spicy Tuna (tuna, nori, red bell pepper) and Garden (marinated vegetables, smoked tofu, nori)—will also be on the a la carte menu at the Carroll High and Carroll Senior High cafeterias during lunch starting this fall at a cost of four dollars.
