Jefferson Cty. (KY) Tests Elementary Grab-and-Go Meals
Jefferson County (KY) Public Schools are experimenting with a new grab-and-go elementary school lunch option called Pyramid Power Pack meals, reports the Louisville Courier-Journal. The clear, disposable “lunchboxes” contain a different sandwich or entrée salad item each day, along with fresh vegetables and dip, fruit and milk. A whole-grain roll and small cookie may be added for no additional cost.
Students will have the option of choosing either the Pyramid meal or one of the regular menu items for lunch during a trial period that will last through August. The district will evaluate the response to the program in September and decide whether to continue it daily or a few times a week.
