iPhone, Australian for Opening Beers
A pair of entrepreneurs from Down Under have developed the Opena, a plastic case that turns an iPhone into a bottle opener. The device does the job without damaging the phone, either from the pressure or from any foaming.
Of course, there's no reason to assume that a bottle opener has to be designed expressly to open bottles of beer, but then, this is Australia we're talking about. The inventors, industrial designer Chris Peters and toolmaker Rob Ward, had no illusions when talking to Reuters about their brainstorm. The problem they said they wanted to solve was not having an opener or even keys on one's person when one wanted to crack a cold one. The solution: everyone always has his or her phone.
So now, there's an app for that (at least in a sense…)
