Virginia Tech Dining Services plans to renovate its West End Market dining venue to add more seating, and is opening its D2 and Hokie Grill dining halls for select weekend hours. The moves come in response to the growing number of students buying meal plans. The number currently stands at around 18,000.

The nearly $6 million West End renovation project is set to begin next January and be completed the following August. In addition to adding up to 150 more seats, it will also add new storage and kitchen space to previously existing areas.

The new weekend hours for D2 on Sunday are noon to 4 p.m. for brunch, and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for dinner. Hokie Grill is now open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
