University Donates Equipment to Storm-Damaged High School

Bowling Green (OH) State University and dining services provider Chartwells found a user for all the foodservice supplies and equipment it was planning to get rid of after it closed down the school's 50-year-old Commons Dining Center earlier this year. That user is Lake High School in nearby Lake Township, which had recently been struck by a tornado that heavily damaged its kitchen and cafeteria.

The donations ranged from serving spoons, pots and pans to heavy equipment like refrigerators and a double convection oven, as well as tables and chairs. BGSU is planning to tear down the Commons, replacing it with a brand new facility with brand new equipment, but the equipment in the old facility was still perfectly usable. A local firm, Nagel Trucking, donated one of its vehicles to haul the equipment to a temporary site at a local community college, located near Lake High School.
