Dining Services at the University of Kansas has been seeing record crowds and revenues, according to a report in the Daily Kansan. Among cited reasons are increased enrollment and greater reluctance on the part of students to use expensive gasoline to drive to eateries off campus. Average customer counts at each campus dining venue are up by about a hundred, and the Underground food court in the school’s Memorial Union is surpassing its record sales day—$18,181, set last year—at least once of week now. Also increasing are prices, because of escalating food costs, which has led to a check average increase across campus of 30 cents, to $4.28.
