Mason (OH) High school has installed an all-carrot vending machine as part of a healthy eating experiment, reports the Middletown (OH) Journal. The machine will be onsite for two months to gauge student interest as part of an "Eat 'Em Like Junk Food" campaign mounted by a farmers coop calling itself A Bunch of Carrot Farmers led by Bakersfield, CA-based Bolthouse Farms.
Another pilot site with a carrot vending machine was installed in a high school in Syracuse, NY. Bolthouse is providing the machines and covering the operating costs while the schools keep the profits. The machines each stock 300 bags of baby carrots costing 50 cents apiece.
