Robert Wood, former head of foodservice management firm The Wood Co., has passed away at 67, reports the Morning Call. Wood's father Milton W. (Scotty) Wood founded the firm in 1940. Robert Wood joined the company after graduating from Cornell University in 1967, and rose to succeed his father as company chairman in 1997.
Wood Co. grew to become one of the largest foodservice management companies in the U.S., rising as high as #5 on Food Management's Top 50 Contract Management Companies listing in 2001. It was acquired by Sodexo in April of that year.
