Lebanon (OR) High School has reduced its daily trash generation from 17 garbage cans to one with a new pulper, reports the Albany Democrat-Herald. Students simply toss all their trash except for metal, glass and soft plastics like sandwich wrap into the unit through a small window the same way they would use a standard garbage can. The nutrition department purchased the unit for $35,000 and expects to recoup its investment in two to three years.
