Nine Firms Bid on Pa. Statehouse Contract

Nine firms submitted bids for taking over operation of the cafeteria at the Pennsylvania capitol complex in Harrisburg, reports the Patriot-News
The Dept. of General Services, which is publishing the bid, declines to name the firms, citing confidentiality obligations.

Previous operator Aramark opted out of its three year contract in December, though the company has continued to manage the cafeteria until a new management firm is found. Food sales at the eatery have lagged since being shut down in December 2009 by the state Department of Health for a rodent infestation and other health violations.
