The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced updated Energy Star requirements for commercial refrigerators and freezers to help businesses easily identify the most energy-efficient equipment with the best utility savings in the industry. Energy Star products are on average 30 percent more energy-efficient than their counterparts.
EPA periodically upgrades its Energy Star requirements to reflect industry innovations and new technologies. The label helps food service organizations, convenience stores, and grocery stores easily identify which commercial food equipment is at the top of the line in energy-efficiency.
The revised ENERGY STAR requirements are scheduled to go into effect immediately for glass and mixed door cabinets, and, on January 1, 2010 for solid door cabinets.
