Kaiser Permanente Ditches Trans Fats

Kaiser Permanente has eliminated all foods containing trans fats, including those in vending machines, reports the Orange County Register. The large healthcare organization has been working with vendors to identify trans-fat free products, whether ingredients or ready-to-consume packaged products. It is also making a concerted effort to buy more locally grown fruits and vegetables. The bans are in advance of California state law that will require all eating establishments to eliminate trans fats by 2010.
