Despite an explosion of exotic food choices, hot dogs remain the top-selling concession food item at ballparks, reports the New York Times. The estimated 26.3 million hot dogs and sausages expected to be consumed by major league baseball fans this summer represent about 10 percent of total F&B sales at ballparks, a number that has remained largely unchanged in the last decade despite the explosion of gustatory alternatives. For concessionaires, that's not necessarily bad, since the menu item is also among the most profitable.
