Lines are moving faster and more students are eating in the constricted lunch periods in the Casa Grande Union (AZ) High School District thanks to a recently introduced grab-and-go program, reports the Casa Grande Dispatch. The previous system, offering food prepared onsite, caused too many bottlenecks. Now, sandwiches, salads and hot food are pre-made and packaged so that students can grab what they want and go check out. With the new system, the Casa Grande High school can process more than 400 students in each of the two 12-15 minute time windows available for meal service. The new system also introduced tighter nutrition standards along with more choice.
