College to Turn Downtown Restaurant Into Its Student Dining Hall

Beacon College of Leesburg, FL, plans to purchase a former restaurant space in downtown Leesburg and turn it into its new cafeteria, reports the Leesburg Daily Commercial. Plans also call for turning part of the space into a public restaurant that would be operated by students as a real-world enterprise in which they can develop entrepreneurial and business skills. The 6,000-sq.ft. space, formerly a commercial eatery called the Chopping Block, will give the 150-student school a larger dining space than the increasingly inadequate current cafeteria. It will have seating space for up to 270.
