Camden Schools to Privatize With Aramark

Camden (NJ) Schools has voted to privatize its school dining operations, extending a contract to Aramark Education Services, reports the Camden Courier-Post. The district expects to save $2 million and get a guaranteed $100,000 payment from the contractor with the deal. An investigation concluded more than a year ago had found the self-operated nutrition services department was running a multi-million dollar debt in part because of waste and inefficiencies. The director at the time, Tony Robinson, subsequently resigned and the board of education decided to explore privatization by soliciting bids.
