A software program that allows patients to order meals using touchpad computers is being rolled out across hospitals in Great Britain, reports Sourcewire. The program, called Maple, was developed by specialist software application developer Ambient and trialed at Birmingham Children's Hospital, where the program was loaded onto Panasonic Toughbook computers. Nurses either use the device to place orders for patients or allow them to make their own choices using the visual images and intuitive order-entry system to work their way through the menu choices.
