Bigger Dog, Same Price at Costco Food Courts

Bucking the trend of rising food prices and shrinking packages/portions, Costco recently announced a shift to a larger hot dog while retaining the $1.50 retail price for the chain’s in-store hot dog and drink foodservice special. The private label wiener is said to be 10 percent larger than the national branded Hebrew National product Costco previously used, while the $1.50 price remains the same as it was in 1985, when the membership warehouse retailer first kicked off its in-store foodservice program. Costco reportedly sells close to 90 million hot dogs annually at its stores. The drink is a 20-oz. soda with free refills.
