Revolution Foods serves more than 200,000 freshly prepared meals made with natural (organic and/or locally sourced where possible) ingredients each school day in a thousand school locations in 25 cities in California, Colorado, Louisiana, Texas, New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC.

The meals, prepared in seven regional central kitchens, are either served in the cafeterias or from vending machines. The company augments the healthy message with educational materials and services.

Late last year, Revolution Foods partnered with the Oakland-based Back to the Roots organization on a “Grow Food, Give Food’” campaign to encourage vegetable cultivation. The company last year also launched a retail Meal Kit line of packaged healthy prepared foods that it sells through grocery partners like Whole Foods and Target stores.

Major clients include Oakland City Schools, with which Revolution Foods first launched its program in 2006, as well as San Francisco USD and schools in Denver, Houston and New Orleans. The natural/organic ingredient sourcing is facilitated through a partnership with Whole Foods and its network of suppliers.
