Strike, While The Waffle Iron is Hot

CHOO! CHOO!: On Oct. 26, 1891, Purdue football players were first dubbed the "Boiler Makers" in a local newspaper headline. Another account stated, "Those big fellows from Purdue know how to play football as well as pound the rivets into boilers." No doubt a factor in attaching a railroad nickname to Purdue. While the big fellows aren't "pounding rivets into boilers" these days, the Purdue Boilers Makers are pounding locomotive logos onto waffles!

GOLDEN WAFFLES: The specially made waffle irons at Gannon University in Erie, PA, home of the Golden Knights, imprint the University's logo right on to the waffles, which can then be topped with any of a number of delicious toppings.

IVY DECORATED BREAKFAST: As a small, but significant way to improve the Ivy Leaguer's life, Harvard University Dining Services has installed "Veritas" waffle irons in all 12 undergraduate houses. The waffle irons stamp the Harvard shield on top of each waffle, creating an imprint approximately half the diameter of the waffle.
