The Beverly Hills (CA) School District Board of Education is dealing with a significant potential shortfall in its elementary school meals program after contract negotiations with contract management company Choicelunch failed to come to agreement on the financials, reports the Beverly Hills Courier. The company says it cannot provide the needed level of food quality and service without a substantial subsidy from the general fund that could rise as high as $900,000 for thhe balance of the school year. The BOE had authorized a $100,000 subsidy and indicated it may go as high as $280,000. Previous management company Chartwells is terminating its contract following criticism that it had decreased food quality in an effort to remain profitable.
