Maybe They Can Run a Special Every Seven Years

One Australian town decided to make the best of a bad situation by using the locusts that had invaded the town as a topping at the local pizza parlor, reports the London Daily Mail. Mildura in the state of Victoria was in the midst of its regular locust plague when the mayor, Glenn Milne, came up with the brainstorm.
He passed his idea on to the local pizza shop owner, who also thought it was brilliant. For one thing, procurement costs are practically zero. “The locusts are all over town. I can just go outside, scoop them up and put them in the oven. Delicious,” the Mail quoted him as saying. (Apparently, HAACP is a foreign concept in Mildura…)
Of course, locust is a high protein, low calorie food item, which definitely makes it preferable to pepperoni or sausage from a nutrition standpoint.
So put another locust on the barbee, mate…
