Fowl Play Lands Smuggler in Jail
Photo: Media Bakery
A man was arrested recently at Dulles Airport in Washington, DC, for trying to smuggle cocaine worth around $4,300 stuffed inside a fully cooked chicken. Suspicious border control officers found the drugs encased in plastic bags in the chicken's chest cavity.
Smart move, dude. After all, what can be more unobtrusive in an airport than a guy hauling around a whole uncut chicken among his carry ons? Isn't the whole point of take-on-board meals sold in airport kiosks that they are easy to eat in crowded cabins? A bird that still has to be carved once you're in your seat probably fails the convenience test — not to mention that any knife big and sharp enough to do the job wouldn't even be permitted on board.
Or did he claim that the chicken was meant for consumption at the other end of the trip (“Look dear, I brought us a chicken for dinner…from Washington.”), a kind of extreme take out meal?
In that case, he has a lot to learn about flying under the radar…
