REX Healthcare in Raleigh, NC, has published an app for its nutrition services department where patients, staff and visitors can view menus, dining venue choices, hours of operation and recipes. Jim McGrody, director of culinary & nutrition services, says the app is the first on the market to focus exclusively on patient and retail dining in a hospital.
"We will soon have videos as well, to share with our patients how the food is made," he adds. "In the very near future we will have a way for our visitors and staff to order food via the App. We still have some logistics to work out on that piece. It is very exciting."
The free app had almost 200 downloads in its first 48 hours of availability, McGrody notes.
