Pig Out at Paul Quinn College

Paul Quinn College has announced that its campus is pork-free

Paul Quinn College has announced that its campus is now pork-free as part of an initiative to produce healthier students, staff and community members, reports Inside Higher Ed.  The formal statement from Paul Quinn President Michael Sorrell reads…

"We know there are many negative health consequences of consuming pork...Therefore, as a part of our continued effort to improve the lives and health of our students, Paul Quinn College and its food service partner Perkins Management have collaborated to create a pork-free cafeteria.  From this semester forward PQC will no longer serve dishes containing pork.  That applause you hear in the background is the blood pressure of our students, faculty and staff."

Under Sorrell's leadership, Paul Quinn has engaged in a campaign to promote health that included the purchase of new equipment for the College's fitness center.

Unless they were serving pork every day in every meal that is just preposterous. If they are removing pork to make their consumers healthier I hope that they have already stopped cooking with sugar, oil, cheese, and every other ingredient that may impart “many negative health consequences.”

I am saddened to believe that President Sorrell doen't know much about pork today. I would suggest reading about it before coming to the gross generalization that he has about pork

That's rather stupid. Pork is no worse than any other meat. Why not just ban meat and dairy.
