Chartwells has submitted a letter to Kansas State University Student Union Director Bill Smriga stating its intention to terminate its contract unless it is restructured, reports the K-State Collegian student paper. Chartwells, which operates retail venues across the K-State campus under a deal signed 18 months ago, claims "substantial financial losses operating the K-State food service program" as its reason for withdrawing from the deal unless it is renegotiated. Both parties have the right to terminate the agreement with a 90-day notice.

Is this normal for companies to pull out of a 10 year deal? Sounds like they knowingly underbid thinking the money they gave would hold them hostiage and they would have to raise their rates. Sad that they are all doing that now!
