Soy El Supervisor

Nearly a fifth of the kitchen workforce is Hispanic, according to a recent report by the National Restaurant Association.

Communication between employee and supervisor can be a challenge if they aren't speaking the same language. While taking a class to become fluent in Spanish would be ideal, realistically time and money constraints sometimes won't allow it. What remains can be inefficiency and a not-so-great work environment, not to mention potential safety hazards.

Say-It Language Card para los restaurantes y las cafeterias offers a practical short-term solution. The tough, laminated heavy-stock card folds out accordion style for easy access to phrases like “Siga esta receta,” (Follow this recipe) and “Los huevas estan en la refrigadora.” (The eggs are in the refrigerator).

The most common jobsite words are listed and there are quick-reference sections on hiring and employment, measures, meals, ingredients, cooking tools, phrases for service, safety, HACCP and job rules.
