Sodexho Alliance reported organic growth of 8.7% in its North American operations in its first 2007 fiscal quarter, ended November 30. The actual growth rate was 5.4% after accounting for a 3.3% negative currency impact (Sodexho reports in Euros).
The company attributed the increase to "continued dynamism" in the healthcare, senior care and education segments and "renewed activity" in B&I characterized by good comparable unit growth, continued demand for catering services and a recovery in business development, including in facilities management.
The healthcare and senior care segments were boosted by the "expansion of service offerings on existing sites" and the "application of contractual indexation clauses." Education business grew at an 8.7% organic rate thanks to "improved client retention, strong demand in facilities management and strong comparable unit sales, notably with an expanded food offering in schools, the company said.
