Former Silver Plate winner and foodser vice industr y pioneer Anita Brown passed away in mid-June after a courageous, two-year battle with cancer.

Brown achieved prominence for her work with Food Works, the Motorola Hospitality Group's innovative and influential business dining division, where she ser ved as director of US operations. Over her career, Brown demonstrated both a flair for the aesthetics of food presentation and a keen sense of operational efficiency.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Brown was very active in the industr y, especially with the Society for Foodservice Management (SFM). She served on the SFM board from 1998-2000 and was chairperson of the association's 1995 national conference.
