HFM calls for culinary competition entries

HFM President Patti Dollarhide and Conference Chair Todd Foutty during a recent HFM conference planning meeting

Tired of hearing complaints about the quality of hospital food? So are the members of HFM (National Society for Health Care Foodservice Management). To showcase some of the most creative culinary talent of its members and to highlight what hospital food can be like at its best, HFM is planning a "Best of the Best" Culinary Competition at its upcoming national training conference in Phoenix, August 23-27.

"We know that there's top drawer culinary talent throughout the healthcare community and we want to get that message out to our customers and to our industry," says Todd Foutty, 2005 HFM Conference Chair, who is spearheading the project.

First prize for the event includes a scholarship for continuing culinary education at the Culinary Institute of America. More information on the competition is available at the HFM website (www.hfm.org); the deadline for signing up was recently extended to May 31.
