Blind Vendor Takes a Hike in Protest

The chairman of the Illinois Committee of Blind Vendors-(ICBV) is taking his protest against the state to the streets, or rather the highway—I-55, which runs south from Chicago to the Illinois state capitol at Springfield, to be exact.

John Gordon says he is making his march to highlight the failure of the state to give blind vendors priority on recent foodservice contract bids. The blind have historically received such preferential treatment since the passage of the federal Randolph Sheppard Act in 1936.
