Aramark Looks at Teen, 'Tween Eating Habits

Aramark has released research findings from a national study that examined the lunch room habits and behaviors of tweens (grades 6-8) and teens (grades 9-12). It has also incorporated those findings into two new proprietary brands, "12 Spot" for middle school environments and "U.B.U. Lounge" for high schools.

Among the findings Aramark released: 56% of high school-ers don't regularly use the school cafeteria, only averaging 1.4 visits a week, while 23% eat in the cafeteria 3.1 times a week.

Even of the 15% that use the school cafeteria "regularly," most say they prefer to go offsite for lunch. As it is, high schoolers spend some $44 million each week on offsite lunches, the study found.
