ACFSA Mourns the Loss of its Founder

On February 2, 2005, Al Richardson, American Correctional Food Service Association founder, passed away. He was buried in his home state of Utah on February 12.

Richardson recognized, in the late 60's, a need for correctional foodservice professionals to have an association that was unique to their field. In 1969, he founded ACFSA to "enhance, represent, and promote" the professional stature of those working in the correctional segment of the foodservice industry.

Richardson was greatly admired and respected by his colleagues. He will be remembered as a 'people person' who challenged his peers to continue to be strong and grow. That challenge and his memory will ensure that ACFSA will continue to grow and receive recognition throughout the international correctional foodservice community.
