NarrativeThe growing Greenville district has made a significant investment in its school system, pouring about a billion dollars into facilities over the past dozen years that have resulted in 75 new or renovated school sites. In the nutrition program, quality has been a priority with a Culinary Creations program converting production back to from-scratch prep (all elementaries now feature all-scratch-cooked meals) and sending staff to local community colleges for culinary training. Choice is emphasized, especially in middle and secondary cafeteries, with up to 10 entrée choices daily, including some branded selections from providers like Papa John’s Pizza and Chick-fil-A that meet school meal requirements, as well as recipes developed by the district’s own staff chef.
